Spectacles

Rock The Republic sets itself apart from many other arts and culture based events by utilizing spectacles. Trying to define a spectacle is next to impossible. During the inaugural RTR, held in 2009, there were six spectacles that dazzled the attendees and mystified the fans until four in the morning.

Spectacles are things that don’t quite fit into a category like music, art or poetry. They are simply too hard to describe, thus the term spectacle is used. They might range from the power hour of comedy, poetry, improv and interviews that make up the Retro Rainbow Sound Circus – to the wildly successful Ride The Republic, a 24-hour bicycle event that had participants doing everything you’re not supposed to do on a bike.

We look forward to announcing these spectacles soon. They take a bit longer to plan and pull together, so sit tight and as they say… getcha popcorn ready.
