In 2009, while many Rock The Republic fans were being blown away by the best emerging bands that Texas has to offer, others were crowding into RTR venues to listen to HBO DEF poets like Joaquin Zihuatanejo, Buddy Wakefield, and Rock Baby.
At 3AM on a Friday night, hundreds packed a church parking lot to witness Christopher Michael become the first RTR “slam poetry” Champion.
This year we’ll bring back our favorites plus some of the freshest voices in Texas.
